Key responsibilities
- Own full manuscript development from initial brief and outline through structured chapter drafts and final delivery.
- Conduct discovery calls with authors to clarify goals, audience, tone, and publishing timeline before writing begins.
- Prepare chapter plans, sample sections, and milestone drafts for client review at agreed project stages.
- Research subject matter, verify factual details, and integrate client notes without losing narrative flow or voice.
- Revise manuscripts based on internal editorial feedback and client comments within agreed turnaround windows.
- Maintain consistent UK English, formatting standards, and chapter-level documentation for handover to editors.
- Mentor junior writers by reviewing their drafts, sharing best practices, and supporting quality checks before submission.
- Coordinate with project managers on capacity planning, deadline tracking, and scope changes across active writing assignments.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional book writing or ghostwriting experience.
- Demonstrated ability to manage long-form projects independently.
- Experience working with editors and incorporating structured feedback.
- Excellent research skills and professional communication with clients.
